MCF launched its signature program, BE BOLD, at Boys & Girls Club of America sites in New York City, building upon Misty Copeland’s own childhood experience in a local club and adult relationship as an ambassador. We conduct our programs across 25 community-based organization sites in the Bronx and Harlem.

The BE BOLD curriculum is a powerful thing many of the children have never been exposed to… [the Teaching Artists] are excellent instructors, role models, and leaders that the youth gravitate to.
– Site Leader, Rising Stars @ Gaylord-White Community Center

The Misty Copeland Foundation’s teaching artists lead all sessions with live music accompaniment. T-shirt, ballet shoes, and a copy of Black Ballerinas: My Journey to our Legacy by Misty Copeland are provided for each participant.

The partner site is expected to provide:

• On-site program administration, including a designated liaison and registration coordinator.
• A suitable physical setting for dance.
• Easy access to after-school mentoring and tutoring.

The Misty Copeland Foundation engages with community sites as true partners and collaborators. The Foundation identifies potential partners to host our program and invites them to submit an application.
